How GigCoverCalc Estimates Work

Methodology version 3.0, last reviewed July 30, 2026. This page explains what data the calculator uses, what adjustments it applies, what it deliberately does not do, and where its limits are.

What the calculator is

An educational screening tool that returns insurance categories that may be worth reviewing, with broad national benchmark cost ranges. It is not a quoting engine and not a licensed advisory service.

Data sources

Publicly available insurer pricing pages and cost guides (Insureon, NEXT Insurance), and HealthCare.gov marketplace data for state health benchmarks. Reviewed July 2026.

Why results are ranges

Every estimate is a range of roughly -25% to +35% around an adjusted benchmark, because real premiums depend on underwriting factors this tool does not collect.

What we deliberately do not evaluate

Legal insurance requirements, policy wording of existing coverage, workers' compensation pricing, surety bonds, umbrella liability, disability, or life insurance.
